If you have forgotten your NETGEAR Orbi or Nighthawk router's administrator password, you can reset the password to regain access to your router's settings.
Your router's admin password is different from your WiFi or MyNETGEAR passwords. Your router's admin password is used to access your router's settings. For more information see, What’s the difference between admin credentials, WiFi network credentials, and a MyNETGEAR account?
To reset your admin password:
- Launch a web browser from a computer connected to your router’s WiFi network.
- Enter your router's web-based settings URL.
- For Orbi WiFi Systems, enter orbilogin.local or orbilogin.com
- For Nighthawk routers, enter routerlogin.net

The Router Password Reset screen displays. - Enter your router's serial number and click CONTINUE.
To find your router’s serial number, see: Where to find your NETGEAR product’s serial number - Answer the two security questions you chose when you first set up your router and click CONTINUE.
- Choose a new admin password and security questions and click NEXT.
Your new password and security questions are saved.
A login window displays.
Your password has been reset.
If you are unable to reset your admin password, you must perform a factory reset to create a new password.
A factory reset deletes all personalized settings including your user name, password, WiFi network name (SSID), and security settings.
To perform a factory reset, gently press and hold the Reset button on the back or side of the device with a straightened paperclip or similar object for 15 seconds. After your device is reset, you perform the initial device set-up process again.
