DumaOS is a router operating system designed exclusively for gamers, included as a core feature of all NETGEAR Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers. DumaOS let you optimize and allocate your bandwidth for faster online gaming and smooth streaming.
DumaOS features differ slightly depending on your router. Nighthawk Pro Gaming routers might be running DumaOS 2.0 or DumaOS 3.0, depending on the specific model and firmware version you have installed. (For example, the Nighthawk Pro Gaming XR500 launched with DumaOS 2.0, but can upgrade to DumaOS 3.0 by installing firmware version 2.3.2.130 or later.)
DumaOS 2.0 (XR300, XR450, XR500, XR700, XRM570) has the following features:
- Gaming Dashboard: Customize how you view and interact with your router settings. Pin your favorite panels and view real-time bandwidth utilization by device, ping, and more.
- Quality of Service (QoS): Prioritize bandwidth allocation to your gaming devices and reduce lag by setting your desired max upload and download speeds per device.
- Geo-Filter: Control in-game lag by limiting the distance of the game servers and players your devices connect to.
- Network Monitor: Track bandwidth-hogging devices and identify which applications are causing lag and slowing your games.
DumaOS 3.0 (XR500, XR1000) has the following additional features:
- Application-specific QoS: DumaOS 2.0 QoS enabled you to allocate bandwidth to certain devices, while other devices competed for bandwidth. Application-specific QoS allows you to allocate bandwidth to specific applications across your connected devices.
- Geo Fencing: In DumaOS 2.0, the Geo-Filter feature enabled you to prevent connections to gaming servers outside of a circular radius around your location. The new Geo Fencing feature allows you to draw custom shapes for the Geo-Filter instead of using a circular radius.
- Ping Heatmap: The Ping Heatmap feature enables you to ping your favorite games to see the locations and quality of their servers. You can use this information to set up your Geo Fencing shapes to ensure that you only connect to the fastest servers for your online games.
- Connection Benchmark: The Connection Benchmark feature includes a Speed Test, Ping Test, and Bufferbloat Test. You can use these tests to determine if your network is performing optimally and if you are getting the Internet speeds that you pay for.
- Traffic Controller: The Traffic Controller feature enables you to allow, block, or reject all traffic, particular categories of traffic, specific games, or port ranges. You can set traffic rules for specific devices in your network and schedule certain days and times when your traffic rules are active.
