How do I buy an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card or data plan for my unlocked NETGEAR mobile hotspot or fixed wireless device?

Clearway data plans are no longer available. The following is information on how to purchase data plans that are currently available.

Buying a SIM card for a mobile hotspot or fixed wireless device can be complicated. Use the following information to buy an AT&T or T-Mobile SIM card for your NETGEAR mobile hotspot or fixed wireless device.

You have three options for buying an AT&T SIM card and data plan:

Visit an AT&T store in person and buy a SIM card and data plan at the same time. The SIM card will be activated at that time.
Buy a SIM card either at an AT&T store or other retail store. Then buy a prepaid data plan and activate the SIM card on the AT&T website.
Buy a SIM card either at an AT&T store or other retail store. Then buy a monthly data plan and activate the SIM card on the AT&T website.

You will need to provide your mobile hotspot's IMEI number for all three options. For more information, see Where can I find my NETGEAR mobile hotspot's IMEI number?

To buy a prepaid data plan and activate a SIM card on the AT&T website

Visit att.com/activateprepaid, enter the requested information, and click Continue.
Select Activate 1 device.
Select one of the pre-paid plans and click Continue.
Enter your email address and click Continue.
Select a payment method.
Review the information and click Activate.
Click Continue.
Create a password and 4-digit PIN.
Enter the verification code sent to your email address and click Validate.

Your NETGEAR mobile hotspot is activated.

To buy a monthly data plan and activate a SIM card on the AT&T website

Visit att.com/wireless/byod then click Get Started.
Select Tabletand then click Continue.
If you are a new customer, select I'm brand new here.
Select a plan and click Continue.
Review your cart and click Check out.
Fill in the required information and click Submit order.

Your NETGEAR mobile hotspot is activated.

You have three options for buying a T-Mobile SIM card and data plan:

Visit a T-Mobile store in person and buy a SIM card and data plan at the same time. The SIM card will be activated at that time.
Buy a SIM card and prepaid data plan and activate the SIM card on the T-Mobile website. You can also use a SIM card bought at a T-Mobile store or other retail store.
Buy a SIM card either at a T-Mobile store or other retail store. Then buy a monthly plan and activate the SIM card by calling 855-751-8190.

To buy a prepaid data plan and activate a SIM card on the T-Mobile website

Visit t-mobile.com/bring-your-own-device, then select Enter your device’s IMEI number to check compatibility with our network.
Enter your mobile hotspot's IMEI number and click Check compatibility.
When compatibility is confirmed, click Close.
(Optional) If you do not already have a SIM card, select the I need to buy a T-Mobile SIM card radio button.
Click Choose a plan.
If you are a new customer, click New Customer. Otherwise, click Existing Customer.
Select a data plan and click Go to Cart.
Review your order and then click Check out.
