When you enable two-factor authentication (2FA) for your NETGEAR account, the device that you use to set up 2FA is considered your primary device. Your primary device is the device that receives 2FA login push notifications or SMS messages to authenticate your identity. Because login push notifications or SMS messages are sent to your primary device, choose a device that you typically have with you, like a smartphone.

To change the primary two-factor authentication (2FA) device for your NETGEAR account using the Nighthawk or Orbi app:
