How do I add a trusted two-factor authentication (2FA) device to my NETGEAR account using the Nighthawk or Orbi app?

When two-factor authentication (2FA) is enabled for your NETGEAR account, you can save trusted devices to allow them to log in without using 2FA. We recommend that you only do this for devices that you use frequently that are at low risk of being lost or stolen, like a tablet that you only use at home.

To add a trusted two-factor authentication (2FA) device to your NETGEAR account using the Nighthawk or Orbi app:

  1. Launch the Nighthawk or Orbi app on the device that you want to add.
    The dashboard displays.
  2. In the top-left corner, tap the Home or Cloud icon.The icon varies depending on your router’s settings.
  3. Tap Account Management.
  4. Tap Log Out.
  5. Tap Sign into existing account.
  6. Enter your NETGEAR account email address and password.
  7. Tap Log In.
  8. On your primary 2FA device, approve the login via push notification or SMS code.
    1. Tap Try Another Verification Method.
    2. Tap Continue.
      A login code is sent to your NETGEAR account email address.
    3. Enter the login code.
    If you don’t have access to your primary device:
  9. On the device you are adding, tap Continue.
  10. Tap Trust Device.
  11. Tap Continue.
    Your device is now a trusted device.
