NETGEAR Smart Parental Controls (SPC) lets you monitor your child’s online activity when they are away from home and offers features like the My Time app.

Follow these high-level steps to upgrade from Circle to NETGEAR SPC on your RBK50:

  1. Cancel your Circle subscription
  2. Manually install the new NETGEAR SPC firmware (2.7.2.102 or later)
  3. Log in to your router’s web interface and enable NETGEAR SPC
  4. Purchase a NETGAR SPC subscription

This option is only available for routers designed to be sold in North America.

To manually install the new NETGEAR SPC firmware:

  1. Connect your mobile device to your Orbi router’s WiFi network.
  2. Launch the Orbi app.
  3. Enter your router's admin password and tap SIGN IN.
    The dashboard displays.
  4. In the top-left corner, tap the Menu icon.
  5. Select Settings > Router Settings.
  6. Scroll down and tap Check for Updates.
    If you see Update Firmware instead, new firmware is available for your router. 
  7. Follow the onscreen instructions to install firmware version 2.7.2.102 or later.
    Your router reboots and the new firmware is installed.

To log in to your router’s web interface and enable NETGEAR SPC:

  1. Launch a web browser on a computer that is connected to your Orbi router’s WiFi network.
  2. Visit www.orbilogin.net.
  3. Enter the default user name and password.
    The default user name is admin. The default password is password.
    The BASIC page displays.
  4. Select ADVANCED > Security > Parental Controls.
  5. Click UPGRADE TO NETGEAR SPC at the bottom of the page.  
    A confirmation message displays.
  6. Select OK.
    Your router reboots.

After you enable NETGEAR SPC, the Parental Controls page no longer displays in your router's web interface. Use the Orbi app to manage parental controls settings and access NETGEAR SPC. 

To purchase a NETGEAR SPC subscription:

  1. Launch the Orbi app.
  2. Tap the home icon on the top left of your screen.
  3. Tap ADD ONS.
  4. Tap Parental Controls. 
  5. Tap Buy Now > See Pricing.
  6. Choose a subscription plan and tap Get Started.
  7. Provide the required payment information.
  8. Tap the confirmation button at the bottom of your screen to confirm your purchase. 
    NETGEAR SPC is active on your router.
