If you use an Apple iOS device, a local network permission prompt might display after launching the Nighthawk or Orbi app. Apple requires apps like the Nighthawk and Orbi apps to ask your permission to communicate with the devices on your network.
By allowing access, you let the Nighthawk or Orbi app connect to your NETGEAR device. Allowing access is required to set up and manage your devices from the Nighthawk or Orbi apps. If you don’t allow access, the Nighthawk or Orbi app cannot connect to your router and you can’t use your app unless you connect using Anywhere Access (remote management).
Use the following steps to enable this feature if you accidentally disabled it.
To enable local network permission for the Nighthawk or Orbi app:
- Launch the Settings app on your iOS device.
- Select the Nighthawk or Orbi app from your apps list.
- Slide the Local Network slider to the right to enable this feature.
For more information about Anywhere Access, see Remote Management is now Anywhere Access in the Nighthawk and Orbi apps.
