If you get an “Internet not connected" error in the Nighthawk or Orbi app, try power-cycling your network. Your networking hardware might need to restart to establish a connection with your Internet service provider (ISP). For more information, see How do I power cycle my home network?.
After you power cycle your home network, try installing your NETGEAR router with the Nighthawk or Orbi app again.
If power-cycling your network doesn’t fix the issue, your ISP might require one of the following different connection types:
- Static IP: An IP address that is provided by your ISP. A static IP address doesn’t change. If you don’t know your router’s static IP, contact your ISP.
- PPPoE (Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet): This connection type requires an ISP-provided user name and password before you can access the Internet.
If your ISP requires a different connection type:
- From the Internet not connected screen, tap Advanced Setup.
The Advanced Network Setup screen displays. - Select the connection type that your ISP requires.
If you are unsure of which connection type to select, contact your ISP for details about your connection.
The Nighthawk app does not support L2TP or PPTP WAN connection types. You must use the router web interface to install your router if you use L2TP or PPTP. For more information, see I want to install my NETGEAR router with a WAN connection type other than DHCP. Can I use the Nighthawk app?
