To access the switch management interface in your web browser, you must first discover the IP address of the switch on your network.

The quickest and easiest way to set up your switch is by using the Network feature on a Windows PC or the Bonjour Bookmarks feature in Safari on a Mac. For more information about setting up your Nighthawk switch using these methods, see the following knowledge base articles:

To discover your S8000 Nighthawk Gaming & Streaming Switch using a NETGEAR router:

  1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to the network.
  2. Type http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com in the address bar.
    A login screen displays.
  3. Type the router username and password.
    The username is admin. The default password is password. The username and password are case sensitive.
    The BASIC Home screen displays.
  4. Select Attached Devices. 

    The Wired Devices section lists devices that are connected to the router with Ethernet cables. The Wireless Devices section lists devices that are connected to the wireless network. The following information is displayed:

    Status. The status of the device, allowed or blocked.
    Device Name. If the device name is known, it is shown here.
    IP Address. The IP address assigned to the device when it joined the network. This number can change if the device disconnects and rejoins the network.
    MAC Address. The unique MAC address for deach device does not change. The MAC address is typically shown on the product label.
     
  5. On Wired Devices you should be able to see a Nighthawk_S8000_xxx device listed. The IP address is the current IP address of your Nighthawk Switch.
  6. In the address bar of a web browser, type the IP address of the switch.
    The login page displays.
  7. Type the default switch password, which is password.
    The home page displays.
  8. (Optional) For easier access to your switch in the future, assign a static IP address to your switch:
    1. From the switch’s home page, click IP.
    2. Click the slider under DHCP to disable DHCP.
    3. Record or bookmark the full IP address of your Nighthawk S8000 Switch.
    4. Click Apply.
  9. Select SETTINGS > Change Password.
  10. Enter password as the old password.
  11. Create a strong new password and enter it in the New Password and Retype New Password fields and click Apply.
