- How do I purchase ReadyRECOVER?
ReadyRECOVER is the combination of ReadyDATA hardware and ShadowProtect backup agents. You can purchase ReadyDATA hardware and ShadowProtect licenses from your local NETGEAR reseller. - Who do I call for ReadyRECOVER support?
NETGEAR’s ProSUPPORT team is available should you need product support after installing ReadyRECOVER. The ProSUPPORT team can be reached using the standard NETGEAR support telephone number. North American customers are encouraged to use the dedicated ReadyDATA support line (1-855-RDYDATA). - Can ReadyRECOVER work with my existing ReadyDATA?
Yes, if your ReadyDATA arrays are running firmware 1.4.3+ and above, then you can use your existing ReadyDATA as a ReadyRECOVER appliance.
It is mandatory that ReadyRECOVER backups be stored on a dedicated volume within your ReadyDATA. Both ReadyDATA 5200 and ReadyDATA 516 are supported platforms for this solution.
You will also need a ShadowProtect agent for each server that will be protected. - How often can I backup using ReadyRECOVER (RPO)?
Servers can be backed up every 15 minutes, providing an unprecendented level of protection. This 15 minute window applies regardless of server size as only incremental blocks are transferred during each backup operation. - How Does ReadyRECOVER save space?
ReadyRECOVER saves space in two ways. First, ReadyDATA’s inline compression provides the initial layer of space savings. Even more impressive, ongoing backups only ever write uniquely modified blocks of data, providing additional efficiency when frequently backing up servers. - Can I replicate my ReadyRECOVER backups offsite for disaster recovery?
Yes, using ReadyDATA Replicate, ReadyRECOVER backup data can be efficiently replicated to an offsite location. As this technique only sends incremental changes to the secondary ReadyDATA, it provides immense bandwidth savings. - How is the ShadowProtect agent software licensed?
The ShadowProtect Agent is licensed on a per server basis. The solution cost (licenses plus ReadyDATA hardware) is relatively low when factoring in the savings that can be attributed to the unique efficiencies of these exclusive technologies. - What’s the maximum server size ReadyRECOVER can protect?
As ReadyRECOVER uses .vhdx as a primary file format, it is limited to 64TB per volume within each server that is protected. There is no limit to total server size that can be protected. Maximum raw capacity of a ReadyDATA 5200 is 240TB. - Which Hypervisors does ReadyRECOVER work with?
ReadyRECOVER supports all major hypervisors, as long as the VM itself contains MS Windows. Supported hypervisors include VMware vSphere 5.x, Citrix XenServer 6.x, and Microsoft Hyper-V 2012. - Which Server/VM Operating Systems does ReadyRECOVER work with?
Windows 2000 Server Service Pack 4, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server, Windows 2008 Server R2, Windows Server 2012, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8 - Does ReadyRECOVER guarantee my application can be restored?
ReadyRECOVER includes the ability to integrate with VSS which means applications such as MS SQL, Microsoft Exchange and Active Directory will be consistently recoverable when using ReadyRECOVER. - Do I need to run maintenance operations or checksums on my ReadyRECOVER backups?
No, never. ReadyDATA uses a combination of check and balances to make sure the backup data has integrity. When data is written to ReadyDATA it is verified with a checksum before being written to the RAID volume within. If data on a single drive is ever corrupted, it is transparently repaired using redundant data from another disk in the RAID group (object based RAID). - Can I use my existing StorageCraft licenses with ReadyRECOVER?
Any StorageCraft license (MSP, perpetual, purchased from NETGEAR, not purchased from NETGEAR, previously purchased) enables ReadyRECOVER as long as it is used with ReadyDATA hardware. ReadyRECOVER requires ShadowProtect version 5.2.0 (or later) and ReadyDATA OS 1.4.3 (or later).
Note: NETGEAR do not provide support to ShadowProtect software, when the license is not purchased as part of ReadyRECOVER package.
