The WAC740 Wireless Access Point meets IEEE 802.3at PoE+ specifications. If you are connecting the WAC740 to a PoE+ (802.3at) switch, you do not need an additional power source.
If the Power LED on your WAC740 alternates between green and amber, your PoE+ switch might be overloaded. If your switch is overloaded, you must use a power adapter to power your WAC740.
You must also use a power adapter if your switch is PoE (802.3af) and not PoE+ (802.3at). The access point requires a PoE+ (802.3at) switch.
If you do not have a PoE+ switch or if your PoE+ switch is overloaded, you can purchase an optional 12 volt DC, 2.5Amp power adapter from your NETGEAR retailer.
