Before you can set up link aggregation on your WAC740, you must run the Discovery Wizard for the wireless controller that you are using to manage the WAC740 and add the WAC740 to the wireless controller's Managed AP List. Note: The WAC740 access point supports a manual static link aggregation group (LAG) only. The access point does not support IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation or Link Aggregation Control Protocol (LACP) groups.

To set up link aggregation on your WAC740 Wireless Access Point:

  1. Connect both LAN Ethernet ports on a WAC740 access point to a switch.
  2. Configure link aggregation on the switch.
    For more information about configuring link aggregation on your switch, see the documentation for your switch.
    If you are using a NETGEAR M4300 ProSAFE Managed Switch, see the M4200 and M4300 Series ProSAFE Managed Switches Web Management User Manual, which you can download by visiting downloadcenter.netgear.com.
    Note: The overall link aggregation throughput is 2 x 1 Gbps (2 Gbps). If, however, one of two LAN connections fails between a WAC740 access point and a switch with static link aggregation configured on both, the redundancy protocol prevails and the link throughput drops to 1 Gbps.
  3. Enable link aggregation for the WAC740 using your wireless controller.
    For more information, see the documentation for your wireless controller.
    If you are using a NETGEAR ProSAFE WC7600v1 or WC9500 Wireless Controller, you can use the following procedure to configure link aggregation using the wireless controller's web management interface:
    1. Open a web browser, and in the browser's address field, type the wireless controller's IP address.
      By default, the IP address is 192.168.0.250.
    2. Enter your user name and password in the wireless controller's login window.
    3. Click the Login button.
      The wireless controller's web management interface opens and displays the Summary page.
    4. Select Access Point > Managed AP List.
    5. In the Edit column of the Managed AP List, select the WAC740 access point for which you want to enable link aggregation.
    6. Click the Edit button.
    7. Under Link Aggregation, select enable.
      Both LAN LEDs on your WAC740 light solid green to indicate that the LAN ports are members of a LAG.
