This article describes how to configure a VLAN on a ProSAFE S3300 Stackable Smart Switch.
Create a VLAN:
- Open a web browser.
- In the address bar of the web browser, type the IP address of the switch and press Enter.
- Type the admin password of the switch (the default password is password) and click Login.
- Go to Switching - VLAN - Advanced - VLAN Configuration.
- In the VLAN ID field, type the ID of the VLAN you wish to create and click Add. Here we add VLAN 10.
Add ports to the VLAN:
- Go to Switching - VLAN - Advanced - VLAN Membership.
- In the VLAN ID drop down menu, select the VLAN ID you want to edit.
- Select the ports to add to the VLAN. You may mark a port as untagged or tagged:
- Ports which connect to client devices such as PCs should be marked as untagged (U). This is also known as an access port.
- Ports on which traffic for multiple VLANs is passed to and from other VLAN aware devices should be marked as tagged (T). This is also known as a trunk port.
- Click Apply.
- For each port added as untagged above, remove that port from VLAN 1. To do this, select VLAN 1 from the VLAN ID drop down menu and clear ports 2, 3 & 4:
- Click Apply.
Configure port PVID settings for untagged ports:
- Go to Switching - VLAN - Advanced - Port PVID Configuration.
- For each port marked as untagged above, set the PVID of that port to the VLAN ID of the VLAN it was assigned to. For example, above, we added ports 2, 3 & 4 as untagged member of VLAN 10. Therefore we set ports 2, 3 & 4 with a PVID of 10. Select each port you wish to edit and then type the required VLAN ID in the PVID field. When done, click Apply.
