You can discover your NETGEAR Smart Switch or Easy Smart Managed Switch using the free NETGEAR Discovery Tool (NDT) application.
To download the NDT and discover your switch:
- Visit the NETGEAR Discovery Tool page.
- Click the Downloads button.
- Click the Linus, Mac, or Windows version, depending on your computer's operating system.
- Click the Download button for the selected version.
The NDT download begins. - Temporarily disable the firewall, Internet security, antivirus programs, or all of these on the computer that you use to configure the switch.
- Unzip the NDT files, and click or double-click the .exe file to install the program on your computer.
You might see the tool icon appear on your Mac dock or Windows desktop. - Reenable the security services on your computer.
- Power on the switch.
The DHCP server assigns the switch an IP address. - Connect your computer to the same network as the switch.
You can use a WiFi or wired connection. The computer and the switch must be on the same Layer 2 network. - Open the NDT by double-clicking the NETGEAR Discovery Tool icon on your desktop.
The initial page displays a menu and a button. - From the Choose a connection menu, select the network for the switch.
- Click the Start Searching button.
The NDT displays the IP addresses of the switches that it discovers. - Click the ADMIN PAGE button next to your switch.
The page that displays depends on your type of switch.
If the NDT does not discover your switch, try the following:
- Make sure that your switch is in the same broadcast domain as your computer.
- Connect your computer directly to your switch.
- Temporarily disable any firewall or security programs on your computer.
- Temporarily disable the wireless connection on your computer.
- Reboot your switch.
- Reset your switch to factory default settings.
