NETGEAR is aware of an issue that can occur when you are using the ReadyCLOUD desktop client for Windows. The issue is still being investigated. NETGEAR will provide an update when the cause of the issue is identified.
In the meantime, NETGEAR is providing a workaround for the issue. You can use this restarting workaround if all three of the following symptoms apply:
- You are using a Windows operating system.
- You are using the ReadyCLOUD desktop application.
- The ReadyCLOUD tray icon never changes its status from Initializing.
To restart the ReadyCLOUD client using Windows Administrative Tools:

- Open the Start menu.
- Open the Services panel:
- If you can access the Control Panel from your Start menu, select Control Panel > System and Security > Administrative Tools > Services.
- If you do not see the Control Panel on your Start menu, type services.msc in the search box and press Enter.
- Scroll down to ReadyCLOUD HTTP Server, select it, and click Restart the service.
- Close the ReadyCLOUD desktop app and then reopen it.
To restart the ReadyCLOUD client using the command line:
NETGEAR recommends that only technically advanced users restart their ReadyCLOUD client using this method.
- Run Command Prompt or Powershell as an administrator.
- Type net stop "readycloud http server" and press Enter.
The following messages display:
The ReadyCLOUD HTTP Server service is stopping.
The ReadyCLOUD HTTP Server service was stopped successfully. - Type net start "readycloud http server" and press Enter.
The following messages display:
The ReadyCLOUD HTTP Server service is starting.
The ReadyCLOUD HTTP Server service was started successfully. - Close the ReadyCLOUD desktop app and then reopen it.
