NETGEAR is aware of the industry-wide potential security issue due to the use of GNU C Library (glibc) that was revealed on Feb. 16, 2016.
Because NETGEAR is committed to customer security, we are reviewing every product to determine if the code is present and creates a potential vulnerability. Our audit reveals that ReadyNAS OS 6 does have this issue.
To correct this issue:
- Download the appropriate glibc libc .deb package for your ReadyNAS to your computer.
- For a ReadyNAS 102, 104, 202, 204, 212, 214, 2120, or 2120 v2: https://www.readynas.com/packages/readynasos/dists/6.5.0/main/pool/g/glibc/libc6_2.19-18+deb8u3.netgear1_armel.deb
- For a ReadyNAS 312, 314, 316, 516, 716x, 3130, 3138, 3220, or 4220: https://www.readynas.com/packages/readynasos/dists/6.5.0/main/pool/g/glibc/libc6_2.19-18+deb8u3.netgear1_amd64.deb
- Log in to the ReadyNAS Admin Page.
- Navigate to Apps.
- Click the Upload button.
The Install Application window opens. - Browse to the downloaded libc6 deb file.
- Click the Upload button.
The file installs. Depending on your ReadyNAS OS alerts settings, you might see the message, "Application package_name is installed successfully."
