This article describes the process required to reset an M4200 managed switch to factory default settings using the boot menu. This will erase the configuration of the switch.
- Open a console connection to the switch using a terminal emulation program with these settings:
- Speed (baud): 115200
- Data bits: 8
- Stop bits: 1
- Parity: None
- Flow control: XON/XOFF
- Reboot the switch and monitor the console output closely.
- As soon as FASTPATH Startup -- Main Menu is displayed, enter option 2 and press return to display the boot menu. You need to do this quickly, otherwise the switch will continue to boot normally.
- The boot menu displays:
- In the boot menu, type 6 and press Enter.
- The switch erases the configuration and then returns to the boot menu.
- Type 11 and press Enter to reboot the switch.
- The switch reboots with factory default settings.
