NETGEAR is aware of a network performance problem using IPv6 on ReadyNAS 102, ReadyNAS 104, or the ReadyNAS 2120.
You may run into these performance issues if you meet the following conditions:
- You are using a ReadyNAS 100 series device (RN102/RN104) or a ReadyNAS 2120.
- You are using IPv6 to communicate with the ReadyNAS.
If you are using any other device, this issue does not affect you.
Due to a hardware limitation on ReadyNAS 100 and 2120 series devices, you may experience much slower network throughput using IPv6 rather than IPv4. ReadyNAS 100/2120 devices are not optimized for IPv6 traffic and traffic offload is left for the CPU to handle. There is no resolution to allow IPv6 to work as optimally as IPv4.
If you are dependent on throughput, you should consider using IPv4 on the affected ReadyNAS devices, rather than IPv6, when possible.
If you are not bothered by the throughput limitation, you can continue to use IPv6.
