How do I recover the administrator password for my ReadyNAS?
You can reset your ReadyNAS Admin password by accessing http://ip_address_of_readynas/password_recovery. If you have forgotten the password recovery answer, you will need to perform a firmware re-installation to reset the admin password by accessing boot menu.

RN3138 default memory is 4GB (1 slot). RN3138 memory interface supports up to 8GB memory module. Maximum memory size is 16GB with both memory slots loaded.
What types of eSATA devices are supported by RN3138?
RN3138 eSATA ports are provided by Marvell PCIe SATA 3 controller 88SE9170. The eSATA device compatibility is therefore determined by Marvell controller.
What is the usage of UID LEDs and switches?
These are parts of industry standard Unit Identification (UID) logic. User can use this feature to identify device from both front and rear to make sure that operations (e.g. change disk, configure network etc.) are done for intended unit. Press either front or rear UID switch will toggle on/off status of both front and rear UID LEDs. Software can also check and toggle UID LED status to alert which unit needs user’s attention.
Front UID LED is also used for boot menu code, and memory test pattern.
How to boot from external USB for USB recovery?
External USB will boot automatically when a flag file named: NTGR_USBBOOT_INFO.txt exists on the root of the drive. For more info on USB recovery see here
Channel 1 SATA connector appears to be different from rest three channels, why?
While channel 2-4 use standard SATA connector, channel 1 uses SFF-8639 connector which supports NVMe drive. NVMe support is experimental. NETGEAR does not support it on RN3138 at this time.
How to enter into boot menu?
Press and hold Reset switch, then use short press to toggle through menu entries, use long press to confirm selection. For details, please check RN3138 hardware manual.
How many network ports are available on the 3138? Can these ports be bonded together?
There are total of 4 1Gb Ethernet ports. All support WOL. These ports can also be bonded together.
Is there an expansion unit for RN3138 to add more than 4 disks?
There is no expansion chassis for RN3138 at this time. NETGEAR desktop expansion EDA500 is not compatible with RN3138.
Is the power supply replaceable on my RN3138?
RN3138 uses internal 1U server PSU and is not user replaceable.
