Sometimes Power over Ethernet (PoE) has some issues that appear to be intermittent, or seems to be not working at all. On these specific switches, this can be caused by a few different things, but the troubleshooting is the same. In some cases, any of the steps below will resolve the issue outright. NETGEAR recommends using all of them to prevent future issues that may occur.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Update the switch to firmware 6.0.1.18, if it is not already on this firmware. It will take about 8 minutes for the first boot up after upgrade to 6.0.1.18 from previous releases, because the switch will also upgrade the PoE firmware to a new PoE firmware. Please wait patiently till the switch completely boots up.
- You can download the firmware from the following product support sites:
- Disable PoE on any uplink or downlink ports to other network devices that do not use PoE.
- Go to System > PoE > Advanced > PoE Port Configuration and select the required port.
- Set Admin Mode to Disable and click Apply to disable PoE on that port.

- Lastly, if one of the uplink or downlink devices is also a PoE switch, disable PoE on the interface on those switches, connecting to this switch. This is pretty much the same as number 2, but this will prevent the issue in multiple places if one switch changes configuration or is replaced.
