NETGEAR is aware of an issue with a constant Red Health LED on the ReadyNAS 3220/4220 chassis.
In order to properly identify this specific issue as the one you're experiencing, you must meet the following criteria:
- At least one PSU is connected to a UPS.
- The UPS runs a self-test.
How does this issue occur?
- UPS devices run a self-test to maintain health.
- When the UPS runs self-test, the UPS will interrupt power to connected devices for 2-4 milliseconds.
- The self-test interrupting power for 2-4 ms is an industry standard.
- The ReadyNAS 3220/4220 PSUs detect that loss of power and turn on the health LED.
- The health LED will only turn off if the system is restarted.
- The health LED will reactivate once the UPS sends the power interrupt.
What can I do about the health LED when connected to UPS?
- The Health LED will either be turned on by the operating system (software) or from the power supplies (hardware)
- Please ensure you are not receiving e-mail alerts from the ReadyNAS and confirm in the web interface about the health of the device.
- Software triggered events should turn off the LED after being resolved.
- Do not only rely on Health LED to inform you of the health of your device.
- Cover the Health LED
- Some instructions are provided on how to modify the PSU Alert wire interally to the device. Doing so is at your own risk and is only recommended for advanced users.
