Why do I need to always have the latest firmware on my NETGEAR product?
Having the latest firmware will help increase the stability, functionality and performance of your product. The new and most up-to-date firmware will likely correct issues as well as potentially add new and improved features to the product.
My client becomes slower when connected to the EX3700 than directly connected to my router?
If your client has good wifi speed, connecting the client does not help improve its link speed. Instead, it could become slower because the original wireless bandwidth is shared by two connections: client to extender and extender to router. Changing the extender to FastLane mode will improve the speed decrease.
I have enabled a wireless MAC filter (wireless access control – ACL) on my router. What should I do when installing the EX3700?
The wireless device MAC address is translated to another MAC address when the wireless device connects to the EX3700. If your router MAC filter is enabled, the wireless device will not be able to get the IP address from the EX3700. To allow this wireless device to access the Internet, you must add the translated MAC address into the router.
To get the translated MAC address:
- Disable the MAC filter on your router.
- Power on the EX3700 and connect all of your wireless devices to the EX3700.
- Make sure that the Link Rate LED remains lit.
- Log in to your router and check the attached devices on the Attached Devices screen. Add any MAC addresses that begin with 02:0F:B5 into your router's MAC filter table.
Will the extender work if I connect it to the router with an Ethernet cable?
It depends on the mode you have selected. The extender is designed to connect wirelessly to the router in “Extender” mode and to connect with an Ethernet cable to the router in “Access Point” mode.
I connected to NETGEAR_EXT and launched a browser. Why am I unable to see NETGEAR genie?
First, make sure that your computer is set up to use DHCP (most are). Second, make sure that both the router link LED and the client link LED are lit and you have a valid IP address. Finally, relaunch the browser, and enter www.mywifiext.net.
I have completed the Installation Wizard, but my wireless devices cannot get the IP address from the EX3700. What should I do?
Make sure that the Password (Network Key) you entered on your wireless device is correct, and power cycle the EX3700 and your router. If your device is still not able to get the IP address:
- Move the EX3700 closer to your router, and move your wireless device closer to the EX3700.
- Disable the wireless interface and enable it again to see if your wireless device can get the IP address.
- If your router has a MAC filter (Wireless Access control), disable it and follow the FAQ to add the device's MAC address to your router.
