Cable Internet customers using popular services such as Comcast XFINITY, Time Warner Cable, Cox, and others can use the C3000 and C3700 cable modem/router products as a replacement for ISP provided equipment. This article is designed to clarify how these routers will work with telephone service.

The C3000 and C3700 cable modem/router products do not provide an RJ11 telephone jack for connecting standard telephones directly to it. Thus, ISP provided service that is designed to connect directly to standard telephones may require additional equipment from the ISP to function properly.

However, the C3000 and C3700 are compatible with Internet-based VOiP providers such as Skype, Vonage, and other services that either use a desktop client and existing Internet connection, or that provide equipment that connects to an Ethernet port on the router to provide phone service.

Customers should contact their VOiP or Internet Service Provider for more information on compatibility based on the service plan selected.
