- What is GS105PE?
This is a 5-port Gigabit switch with PoE Pass Through. It belongs to NETGEAR’s 2nd generation of ProSAFE Plus Switch.
- What is PoE Pass Through?
PoE pass through is getting power from PSE (Power Source Equipment) (eg. GS752TP, the PoE Smart Switch) and provides surplus power to other PoE PDs (Powered Devices).
- Can it be powered by an external power adaptor?
No, it can only be powered by a PSE .
- Can it be powered by an IEEE802.3af or IEEE802.3at PoE switch?
Either.
- How many PoE and PD ports on this device?
GS105PE comes with 2 PoE-capable ports for PoE pass through to other connected devices and 1 PD port for receiving PoE power.
- Will there be any behavior difference when it is powered by an IEEE802.3 af or an IEEE803.at PoE switch?
Yes, when it is powered by 802.3af switch, it can supply power to class 1 or 2 PD only. When it is powered by 802.3at switch, it can supply power to class 0, 1, 2 or 3 PD. Please refer to the detailed information on the installation guide.
- What is the Power LED for?
- It indicates PoE pass through is enabled or not.
- When it is solid green, it means PoE pass through is eanbled.
- When it is blinking green, it indicates PoE pass through is disabled.
- What are the configurable features of ProSAFE Plus Switch?
User can configure Port Mirroring, Flow Control, IGMP Snooping, Loop detection, VLAN, QoS, Rate Limit, and Broadcast Storm Filtering.
- How can I configure GS105PE?
There is a configuration utility in the resource CD that comes with the device. You must install it on a window-based PC.
- Does GS105PE support Flow Control?
Yes, GS105PE supports Flow Control and they are enabled by default.
- How do I know if there is a loop with the connection?
GS105PE supports loop detection. When a loop is detected, the Link/Act and Speed LEDs on the affected port will blink at a constant speed with roughly 1 every second.
- What is the purpose of Factory Defaults button?
This button is for user to reset all of the settings back to factory defaults.
- What is the default password?
The default password is “password”.
- What if I lost my password?
The password can be restored with the Factory defaults button. However, it would reset all configurations as well.
