- What is GS105Ev2?
This is a 5-port Gigabit switch. It is NETGEAR’s 2nd generation of ProSAFE Plus Switch.
- Comparing to GS105Ev1, is there any new feature in GS105Ev2?
Yes, the new features added are loop detection and automatic DoS attack prevention.
- Is GS105Ev2 firmware compatible with GS105Ev1?
No. The firmware is not compatible between v1 and v2, and the configuration files are not compatible as well.
- What is a ProSAFE Plus Switch?
It’s an upgrade to unmanaged switch which can only provide instant network connection, and is not configurable. ProSAFE Plus switch gives user the flexibility to configure certain static layer 2 settings to better control their network.
- What are the configurable features of ProSAFE Plus Switch?
User can configure Port Mirroring, Flow Control, IGMP Snooping, Loop detection, VLAN, QoS, Rate Limit, and Broadcast Storm Filtering.
- How can I configure GS105Ev2?
There is a configuration utility in the resource CD that comes with the device. You must install it on a window-based PC.
- Does GS105Ev2 support Flow Control?
Yes, GS105Ev2 supports Flow Control and they are enabled by default.
- Does GS105Ev2 support Port Auto Negotiation?
Yes, GS105Ev2 supports port auto negotiation for speed and duplex mode.
- How do I know if there is a loop with the connection?
GS105Ev2 supports loop detection. When a loop is detected, the Link/Act and Speed LEDs on the affected port will blink at a constant speed with roughly 1 every second.
- What is the purpose of Factory Defaults button?
This button is for user to reset all of the settings back to factory defaults.
- What is the default password?
The default password is “password”.
- What if I lost my password?
The password can be restored with the Factory defaults button. However, it would reset all configurations as well.
