Your NETGEAR router has internal wireless radios that broadcast WiFi signals. By default, they are turned on so that you can connect wirelessly to the router. When the wireless radios are turned off, you can still use an Ethernet cable for a LAN connection to your router.
You can turn the wireless radios on and off for each of your router's wireless bands from the router web interface. If you only want to turn off a specific band, you can do so. For more information about wireless bands, see What is the difference between 2.4 GHz, 5 GHz, and 6 GHz wireless frequencies?
You can also turn the wireless radios on and off by using your router’s
(WiFi On/Off) button. For more information, see How do I turn the wireless radios on and off on my NETGEAR router using the WiFi On/Off button?
If you use the router web interface to turn the wireless radios off, you cannot turn them back on using the WiFi On/Off button. You must use the router web interface to turn the wireless radios on.
