Are there hardware differences between ReadyNAS 516 and ReadyDATA 516?
Yes, ReadyDATA has 16GB of RAM rather than 4GB.
When can the touch wheel be used?
The touch wheel is used to select boot options, but cannot be used once the OS is booted.
What drive types are supported by ReadyDATA 516?
SATA and SSD only.
How will RMAs be handled?
Disk drives are the only component that is replaceable. For all other hardware problems, the entire chassis will be replaced.
Does ReadyDATA 516 support expansion trays (EDA500)?
No.
Can I use hard drives from 3rd party rather than those provided by NETGEAR?
No. Only drives purchased from NETGEAR can be used in RDD516. These drives have been extensively tested to guarantee best quality. Spare drives can be purchased from NETGEAR in case of disk failure.
What is memory type supported by RDD516?
DDR3 1333/1600 un-buffered ECC DIMM. There are two memory slots, each supports up to 8GB memory module. RDD516 is shipped with maximum possible memory configuration.
How to install/replace hard drive with tool-less disk tray?
Refer to quick installation guide(IG) or hardware manual for detailed instruction. 3.5" drive is mounted by plastic bracket(therefore tool-less). Press and hold slide lock on tray handle to unlock plastic bracket. 2.5" drive is mounted by screws which are included in RDD516 package. Plastic mounting bracket needs to be taken out before mounting 2.5" SSD/HDD drive.
How to power off RDD516?
RDD516 can be gracefully powered off through Web GUI page. Or by press and hold power button for 2 seconds. Be very careful, don't press and hold power button for more than 4 seconds, otherwise, power will be cut off forcefully by hardware.
Are there any special boot modes?
Yes. RDD516 can boot into special boot mode by press and hold RESET switch. It can also boot from external USB by holding OK for 3 seconds immediately after touch key backlight turns off from full brightness seconds after power on. For more details, check hardware user manual.

Why are the settings going back to default after a reboot?
Volume needs to be created before settings can be saved.
