New features and enhancements:

Smart Snapshot Management can be enabled to reduce the total number of historical snapshots per LUN or share.
- When enabled, it prunes older hourly and daily snapshots so that hourly snapshots are kept for 48 hours, daily snapshots are kept for 28 days, weekly snapshots are kept for eight weeks, and monthly snapshots are kept indefinitely.
- Smart Snapshot Management is disabled by default for all existing shares and LUNs.
Warnings are displayed for operations that can adversely affect ReadyDATA performance.
File and Folder permission settings are now inherited for all share types (NFS, SMB, AFP, FTP).
LUN deletion has been optimized for asynchronous operation.
Product information in the SNMP MIB has been updated.

Major bug fixes:

ReadyDATA OS 1.2.0 introduced a new feature called Smart Snapshot Management.
- It was found that when Smart Snapshot Management was enabled on existing shares or LUNs, which configured to take hourly snapshots, the daily and weekly snapshots would be removed, leaving only hourly and monthly snapshots.
- Smart Snapshot Management is disabled by default for all existing shares and LUNs, so unless Smart Snapshot Management was specifically enabled, existing shares or LUNs were not affected.
- ReadyDATA OS 1.2.1 corrects the issue and Smart Snapshot Management will remove older snapshots according to the algorithm described in "New Features and Enhancements".
Active Directory users assigned to more than 10 groups are now supported.
Handling of Active Directory usernames with uppercase characters has been improved for FTP operations.
Issue that caused the group owner of a new share not to display in specific scenarios has been corrected.
Case sensitivity for domains is now supported.
Copying .DS_Store files in Apple Mac environments to SMB shares is now supported.
Tuning for 10GbE network interfaces has been optimized to prevent a rare situation that causes the interfaces to stop transmitting packets.
Issue that caused a spare hard drive to be reported after being removed has been corrected.

Deployment Notes / Limitations:

It is necessary to disable VAAI when using vSphere4 or vSphere5 with iSCSI.
All system settings are volatile until the first volume is created.
Deduplication for thick LUNs has been removed as capacity savings are not realized on the ReadyDATA device or by the host.
File and Folder permissions now take precedence over Automatic Permissions on a per share or LUN basis.
- The Automatic Permissions fields display previously configured permissions, but new changes to the settings will not be enforced
