The main steps to configure an access control list (ACL) on a NETGEAR Smart Switch or fully managed switch are the same, even though the available options and detailed sub steps might differ:
- Create a MAC-based, IPv4-based, or IPv6-based ACL. Depending on the type of ACL, the ACL ID can be a number of a name.
- Create a rule and assign it to a unique ACL ID.
- Define the match criteria for the rule, which can identify protocols, source, and destination IP and MAC addresses, and other packet-matching criteria.
- Use the ACL ID number to assign the ACL to one or more interfaces or LAGs.
