If your PC uses Microsoft Windows 7 or newer, Windows might automatically install drivers for your NETGEAR network adapter when you plug it in.
When Windows detects an adapter and begins installing drivers, you might hear a system sound that indicates a new device is plugged in, or Windows might display a message informing you that it is installing device driver software.
When the driver is successfully installed, you might hear a different system sound that indicates the installation is finished, or Windows might display a message informing you that the device is ready to use.
Because NETGEAR does not have access to and cannot provide support for built-in Windows drivers, we recommend that you install the official NETGEAR drivers for your NETGEAR network adapter.
