Important Firmware Update:

This release bundles updated M4250 switch firmware (V13.0.6.8), which includes a flash-memory stability fix and supersedes firmware V13.0.6.7.

New Features and Enhancements:

  • Engage Controller support on NETGEAR Align Controller (GB406): Engage now runs directly on a NETGEAR Align Controller (GB406) network appliance, in addition to the existing Windows and macOS desktop apps.
  • Align Controller onboarding and site setup: After you complete the Align Controller's initial setup (admin password and management interface), you can click the Engage button on the Align Controller UI and create a new site or import an existing one exported from desktop Engage. Your Engage administrator password is the same as the Align Controller administrator password, so there is no separate password to manage.
  • Site import to Align Engage:
    • Engage provides an easy way for an existing desktop Engage customer to initialize a NETGEAR Align Controller (GB406) without rebuilding their site. Engage discovers the controller on the management VLAN, checks it's onboard-eligible, optionally updates its firmware, and imports one existing site onto it.
    • When you import a site onto an Align Controller, only Layer 3-enabled (routed) network profiles are synced to the Align Controller as subnets. Layer 2-only profiles remain as VLANs without a subnet. You can also choose which Align Controller network interface the site uses during import.
  • Use Align Controller as a DHCP server: Align Engage can configure the Align Controller's built-in DHCP service for a site, so devices can obtain an IP address without a separate DHCP server.
  • Use Align Controller as a PTP grandmaster: Engage on Align can designate the Align Controller as the IEEE 1588 PTP grandmaster (GM) for a site's PTP configuration if you select the Hybrid SMPTE AES67 Core and Audio AES67 Edge profile.
  • Multicast monitoring prompt: Engage now prompts you to enable multicast monitoring the first time you open the Multicast page, if it isn't already turned on.
  • Improves the wording and layout of the warning shown when a device is ineligible for an action.
  • Improves performance of VLAN optimization on larger sites.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixes the issue where an edited network profile was not reapplied to switches that already had that profile assigned.
  • Fixes the issue where the tech-support/diagnostic download might fail or time out on larger sites, including sites with packet captures.
  • Fixes an authorization issue where some Topology and network-profile actions were not correctly restricted by a user's site role.
  • Fixes an authorization issue where users without administrator rights could edit a site or delete a virtual device.
  • Fixes the issue where clearing the IGMP querier address on a VLAN did not reset it to 0.0.0.0 on the switch.
  • Fixes the issue where topology popovers and zoom controls might render outside the visible canvas.
  • Fixes the issue where the topology zoom level might fall out of sync with the displayed view.
  • Fixes the issue where the Shure Split profile push did not honor an empty port selection.

Known Issues:

  • Virtual devices do not support MLAG or stacking.
  • You cannot create device-specific local VLAN profiles directly on individual virtual devices.
  • You can change the management VLAN IP address of a virtual device from the Management VLAN and OOB page; however, the change is pushed to the device only when the IP address is static and the management VLAN is VLAN 1.
  • Offline provisioning auto-onboarding is supported only when you use VLAN 1 as the management VLAN.
  • Topologies that use fanout connections only might experience onboarding failures when converting virtual devices to physical devices.
  • Link speed selection during virtual link configuration is for viewing and planning purposes only.
  • Factory default through configure on the PR460X router does not move the router to the Failed Login state.
  • AP onboarding might fail with a “Provisioning Failed” status in some cases.
Workaround: Remove and re-onboard failed devices.
  • M4300 devices go offline after removing a DICENTIS Conference System profile on a site.
    Workaround: Reconnect port cables.
  • M4500 devices in the Managed Devices table might display as misaligned.
  • M4500 models do not support NTP/SNTP.
  • You cannot change the management VLAN on M4500 models that use the Engage Controller.
Workaround: Use CLI commands to update the PVID on the M4500 models.
  • The auto-stacking function on the M4300 and M4350 switches does not support the M4300-96X model.
Workaround: Use CLI commands if an M4300-96X model must be a member of a stack.
  • You cannot display the EEPROM information for certain fiber modules.
Workaround: Use the switch CLI to display the EEPROM information.
  • Connection requests might be refused during the onboarding process of an M4500 switch.
Workaround: Try again until the connection request is successful.
  • The management VLAN ID is inconsistent for onboarded devices if a pre-existing management VLAN ID does not match the current site settings.
Workaround: Ensure the management VLAN ID is the same across the entire site before you upgrade the firmware.
  • After an Align Controller firmware update completes, the controller can take up to 5 seconds to fully restart. Clicking the Import Site button during this time might cause the import to fail. This issue is intermittent and a future firmware release is planned to fix this issue.
  • Engage on Align Controller supports one site on one network in this release. Multi-site support on Align Controller is planned for Engage 2.7 or later.
  • Migrating a site from desktop Engage to an Align Controller requires exporting the site from desktop Engage and importing it on the Align Controller; there is no automatic migration path in this release.

Minimum Engage Controller Agent Version Requirements:

  • Upgrade the M4500 switches to a firmware version with the Engage Controller agent V2.2.16.18 or later to ensure proper functionality of features in Engage Controller version V2.6.3.5.
  • Update the M4250, M4300, and M4350 switches to a firmware version with the Engage Controller agent V2.2.16.19 or later to ensure proper functionality of features in Engage Controller version V2.6.3.5.
  • Update M4250 switches to firmware V13.0.6.8 or later. Firmware V13.0.6.7 was withdrawn; V13.0.6.8 includes a flash-memory stability fix.
  • Update the Pro Router PR460X to firmware version V3.0.0.105 or later to ensure proper functionality of features in Engage Controller version V2.6.3.5.
  • Update the WBE718 and WBE758 access points to firmware version V12.8.0.7 or later to ensure proper functionality of features in Engage Controller version V2.6.3.5.
  • Update the WAX608Y access points to firmware version V12.8.0.7 or later to ensure proper functionality of features in Engage Controller version V2.6.3.5.
  • NETGEAR Align Controller (GB406) requires Align Controller firmware V1.2.0.22 or later to run Engage Controller version V2.6.3.5.
