The NETGEAR USB-C to Ethernet adapter (model USB2ETH) lets you to add Ethernet connectivity to supported NETGEAR Nighthawk mobile WiFi hotspots.
The USB-C to Ethernet adapter can also add dual LAN connectivity with failover capability to supported NETGEAR Nighthawk mobile WiFi routers. The following NETGEAR mobile WiFi products support the USB-C to Ethernet adapter:
- Nighthawk M3 models
- Nighthawk M6 models
- Nighthawk M7 models
To use the USB-C to Ethernet adapter, you must update your mobile WiFi hotspot or router to the latest firmware.
To use the NETGEAR USB-C to Ethernet adapter with your NETGEAR mobile WiFi hotspot or router:
- Connect the USB-C end of the adapter to your NETGEAR mobile WiFi device's USB-C port.
- Using an Ethernet cable, connect the adapter's Ethernet port to the device that has an Ethernet connection.
You can connect to typical Ethernet devices like computers or gaming consoles or connect to a WiFi router or mesh system to use your NETGEAR mobile WiFi device as a mobile modem.
Note: We recommend that you disable WiFi on your NETGEAR mobile device if you use it as a mobile modem to prevent interference with your router or mesh system. - (Optional) Plug a power adapter and USB-C charging cable into the USB-C port on the adapter to charge and supply power to your NETGEAR mobile WiFi device.
Note: We recommend that you remove the battery from your NETGEAR mobile WiFi hotspot or router if you plan to leave it plugged in long-term. See your device's user manual for more information. Note that the Nighthawk M7 models come with a non-removable battery.
