When you reserve an IP address for a device on your local area network (LAN), that device is always assigned the same IP address each time it accesses the Orbi router’s DHCP server.

You might want to assign reserved IP addresses to computers or servers that need permanent IP settings to work correctly. You can reserve IP addresses from your Orbi router’s web interface.

To reserve an IP address on your Orbi WiFi system:

  1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your Orbi network.
  2. Enter one of the following:
  3. A login window displays.
  4. Enter the Orbi admin user name and password.
    The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified when you set up your Orbi. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
    The BASIC Home page displays.
  5. Select ADVANCED > Setup > LAN Setup.
    The LAN Setup page displays.
  6. In the Address Reservation section, click the Add button.
    The page adjusts.
    The Address Reservation table displays the IP address, device name, and MAC address for each device that the Orbi detects on its network.
  7. Do one of the following:
    • To reserve an IP address for a device that is already on the network, select the radio button for the device.
    • To reserve an IP address for a device that is not on the network, do the following:
      1. In the IP Address field, type the IP address to assign to the device.
        Choose an IP address from the Orbi's LAN subnet, such as 192.168.1.x, or for select Orbi models from 2025 and later models, 10.168.168.x.
      2. In the MAC Address field, type the MAC address of the device.
      3. In the Device Name field, type a name for the device
  8. Click or tap the Apply button.
    The reserved address is entered into the table.

The address you reserved is not assigned to your computer until the next time the computer contacts the router’s DHCP server. To assign the reserved address, reboot the computer, or access its IP configuration to force a DHCP release and renew.
