DNS Rebind Protection is a security feature that blocks the use of private IP addresses by public domains. This can sometimes cause connection issues with some specific network setups, including when an account is given a custom APN (Access Point Name) and private static IP address. In this situation, disabling DNS Rebind Protection can resolve the issue.
Currently, DNS Rebind Protection can only be disabled on the AT&T M7 Pro (MR7400-1A1NAS). More M7 models will receive this feature in future firmware updates.
To disable DNS Rebind Protection on the M7:
- Launch a web browser on a device connected to the M7's WiFi.
- Enter 192.168.1.1 into the address bar and log into the M7's web portal.
The default username is admin. The password is the one you created when you set up the hotspot. - Click or tap SETTINGS > Advanced > Mobile Router Setup and clear the DNS Rebind Protection check box.
- Click or tap Apply.
The M7 restarts.
