Features and Enhancements:

The AV UI provides the following enhancements:

• Addition of new profiles: Birddog, Audio Basalte Multiroom, Audio Audio-Technica, Kramer AV
• Addition of the Manual Trunk configuration option
• Addition of the option to configure STP priority on the Edit STP Network Redundancy pop-up page, which you can access from the Overview page
• Addition of a new “Port Interface Setting” configuration on the Port Configuration page
• Addition of the Profile Name and Template fields to the pop-up window that displays when you point to the switch graphical display on the Overview page
• Addition of a pop-up window to the switch graphical display when you hover over any page
• Support for “CYP” and “IPMX” in video profiles
• PTP TC is now enabled by default for the Audio AES67 and Birddog profiles
• For pages that show the switch graphical display, the legend is now hidden by default

This firmware provides the following features and enhancements:

• Default spanning tree protocol: RSTP (previously MSTP)
• Default MTU size: 9198
• Support for QDP flooding
• Support for ONIE upgrade in AV UI. You can upload the files in .deb or ONIE format
• Support for WST 100G QSFP28 Fanout 4xSFP28 AOC cables
• Support for 100G QSFP28 PSM4 transceivers
• Availability of AV UI upgrade to version 2.2.7.36

Bug Fixes:

• Fixes the issue in the AV UI where the configuration restore function does not operate correctly
• Fixes the issue where the system crashes when you insert too many transceivers that are not manufactured by NETGEAR.
• Fixes the issue where the remote device in LLDP displays “00:00:00:00:00:00” when two M4500s are in a multi-chassis link aggregation group (MLAG).
• Fixes the issue where the system can crash when too many connections are made through the AV UI console terminal
• Fixes the issue where traffic loss can occur when 1 of 2 Link Aggregation Group (LAG) links do not connect after you apply power to the switch.
• Fixes the issue where static IGMP snooping entries on a port-channel are lost after you reboot the switch
• Fixes the issue where the AV UI displays an incorrect power usage for the SFP+ port if the highest-numbered PoE port is being used.
• Fixes the issue where the AV UI displays incorrect port statistics.
• Fixes the where issue the AV UI neighbor page shows the same IP address for all VLANs when the client device uses multiple VLANs.
• Fixes the issue where the bitrate always displays as 0 under Port Statistics.

Known Issues:

• If you use the AV UI to create a manual LAG, PTP TC is not enabled if PTP TC profiles are present.
  Workaround: Use the Main UI or CLI to enable PTP TC.

Firmware Update Instructions Using the AV UI:

You can update the firmware through the AV UI.

You can update the firmware for the switch image only, for example, M4500-v7.0.3.12_2.2.6.9.deb. That is, you cannot update the firmware that combines the switch image and Linux OS.

To update the firmware:

1. Download the firmware file to the computer that you use to access the AV UI.
2. Launch a web browser.
3. In the address field of your web browser, enter the IP address of the switch.
   The login page displays.
4. In the Login Name field, enter admin as the user name, in the Password field, enter your local device password, and click the AV UI Login button.
   The local device password is the password that you set up when you first logged in to the CLI.
   The Overview page displays.
5. Select Configure > Maintenance.
   The Maintenance page displays.
   Note: The switch can hold two firmware versions. If it does, the page displays the active firmware version. The CLI lets you manage firmware files, and change from one version to another. The AV UI lets you update the firmware but does not let you manage firmware versions. If you update firmware using the AV UI, the new firmware becomes the active firmware.
6. Click in the Browse Field field, navigate to the firmware file, and select it.
7. Click the Upload button.
   A pop-up window displays the progress of the firmware file upload.
8. After the upload completes, in the pop-up window, click the Reboot Now button.
   The firmware upgrade process starts. During the firmware upgrade, do not power down the switch. The switch reboots and restart with the new firmware version. When the process is complete, you can log in again to the AV UI.

Firmware Update Instructions Using the CLI:

Starting from firmware release 7.0.3.x, the same firmware file supports both models. Download the “onie-installer-x86_64-netgear_m4500_dnv-7.0.3.X_sign” image file to upgrade the M4500-32C and M4500-48XF8C.

Starting from firmware release 7.0.1.10, only signed firmware images are supported. You cannot update the firmware directly from an unsigned version (that is, from release 7.0.0.20 or an earlier release) to a signed version such as release 7.0.1.x. Instead, you must update to a transition ONIE image version first, and then to the signed ONIE image version 7.0.1.x as shown below:

1. Update the switch from the unsigned image version 7.0.0.x to the transition image version 7.0.1.6.
2. Update the switch from the transition image version 7.0.1.6 to the signed image version 7.0.1.x.

The current transition image is version 7.0.1.6, which provides options to upgrade to a signed or unsigned image version as shown below. In the transition firmware, “with verification” refers to the signed firmware image, and “without verification” refers to the unsigned firmware image. Do not use the transition firmware in a production environment.
