Enhanced Backhaul is a wireless connection between Orbi routers and satellites using the latest WiFi 7 technology.
In most Orbi WiFi Systems, the router and satellites communicate using a dedicated 5 GHz backhaul band to ensure minimum lag in your WiFi connection, no matter where you are in your network.
A WiFi 7 technology called Multi-Link Operation (MLO) allows frequencies to be combined, essentially widening the bands. This allows Enhanced Backhaul Orbi routers and satellites to use the majority of the combined 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands for fronthaul while reserving a percentage of the bands for backhaul without any decrease in WiFi connection quality.
The image below shows an RBE770 series router and satellite using MLO to combine the 5 GHz and 6 GHz bands to achieve Enhanced Backhaul while sharing the rest of the bands with connected devices.
