When selecting a switch to deploy with your WBE750 or WBE758 access point (AP), there are some considerations to bear in mind.

Powering the AP: the AP can be powered by a 12V DC, 3.5A power adapter (not included), a PoE injector (not included) or using Power over Ethernet (PoE). To power the AP using PoE it is important the switch can provide the correct type of PoE and provide a sufficient PoE budget depending on the number of AP’s that require PoE.
Due to the high-performance capabilities of the WBE750 and WBE758, it requires PoE++ (802.3bt) and has a max power consumption (W) of 39W.

The WBE750 and WBE758 will power on with PoE+(802.3at), however there is an impact on the AP’s performance and coverage. When powered by PoE+ (802.3at) the 2.4 GHz band is limited to 2x2 streams, the 5Ghz and 6Ghz bands are limited to 3x3 streams and there is a 3dB reduction in TX power.

Ethernet port speeds: The WBE750 and WBE758 includes a 10G/Multi-Gigabit Ethernet port, that is backward compatible with 100M, 1G, 2.5G and 5G Ethernet connections. For ultimate throughput we recommend connecting the AP on a 10G port. Even though 100M connections are supported, we recommend using a 1G connection as a minimum.

Management mode: The WBE750 and WBE758 can be managed in Insight or using the local web administration page, however, not all NETGEAR PoE++ (802.3bt) & 10G capable switches are Insight manageable. Your requirements will determine if an Insight managed switch or a fully managed switch better suit your needs. Managing the APs in Insight is independent of the switch supporting Insight or not.

Cabling: For a 1G or 2.5G connection Cat5E or better can be used. For 5G or 10G then CAT6A cable is required. To ensure stability and high-speed data transmission avoid using stranded Ethernet cables. Use solid Ethernet cables with secure connections between wires and connectors.
