This article applies only if your network uses a 192.168.0.0 subnet and only to the following NETGEAR smart switches and firmware versions:
- GS724TPv3: Firmware 6.2.0.16 and below.
- GS724TPPv3: Firmware 6.2.0.16 and below.
- GS728TPv3: Firmware 6.2.0.16 and below.
- GS728TPPv3: Firmware 6.2.0.16 and below.
- GS752TPv3: Firmware 6.2.0.16 and below.
- GS752TPPv3: Firmware 6.2.0.16 and below.
- MS324TXUP: Firmware 1.0.0.25 and below.
If you are unable to access the admin page of your smart switch and your network is in a 192.168.0.0 subnet, then please use one of the workarounds listed below.
If you have a single smart switch:
- Workaround 1: Set a DHCP reservation for the switch so that it obtains the IP address 192.168.0.239 from the DHCP server on your network. Reboot or reset the switch so that it picks up the IP address specified in the DHCP reservation. Connect to the admin page of the switch by pointing your browser to 192.168.0.239.
- Workaround 2: Disconnect the switch from the network. Connect only a PC and reboot the switch. In the absence of a DHCP server, the switch will revert to the default IP address of 192.168.0.239. Configure the PC with an IP address in the 192.168.0.0 subnet. Connect to the admin page by pointing your browser to 192.168.0.239. Configure the switch with a static IP of 192.168.0.239 with valid gateway and DNS addresses. Exclude this static IP from the DHCP scope on the DHCP server. Connect the switch back to the network and access the switch by pointing your browser to the static IP which was configured on the switch.
If you have multiple smart switches:
- Workaround: Disconnect each switch from the network. Taking one switch at a time, connect only a PC and reboot the switch. In the absence of a DHCP server, the switch will revert to the default IP address of 192.168.0.239. Configure the PC with an IP address in the 192.168.0.0 subnet. Connect to the admin page by pointing your browser to 192.168.0.239. Configure the switch with a static IP address in the 192.168.0.0 subnet with valid gateway and DNS addresses. Repeat the process for each switch, giving each switch a distinct static IP address. The chosen static IP addresses should then be excluded from the DHCP scope on the DHCP server.
A firmware update to resolve this limitation will be released in the near future.
