PoE Self-healing allows for PoE auto-recovery on your NETGEAR switch. It allows the device to monitor the status of connected PoE-enabled devices and provides a way to reset them if they become unresponsive or stop working properly. For example, where a PoE-enabled device does not respond within a certain period of time, the switch will restart PoE power to the PD by stopping then restoring power to the port. This can help avoid downtime on the connected device.
To enable PoE Self-healing on a port:
1. Launch the web browser from a computer that is connected to the network your switch is connected to.
2. Enter the IP address of the switch.
A login window displays.
3. Enter the Admin password to the switch.
The password is the one that you specified the first time that you logged in.
The Dashboard page displays.
4. From the Dashboard click Switching and then Ports.
5. Under the Ports page click PoE to bring down the drop menu and select PoE Self-Healing.
The PoE Self-Healing page will display.
6. Select the port and click the Edit button.
The Edit PoE Self-Healing Configuration page will appear.
7. From the settings page, click the Self-Healing drop down and click Enable.
8. Add the IP address of the connected device in the PD IP address field.
9. Add the ping time interval in seconds between 30-200 seconds. This will allow the switch to ping the device and check if the device is alive or not.
Note: Default interval is 60 seconds.
10. Click the Save button to save the settings.
