The PR460X allows you to enable the LAN5 port to become a secondary WAN port. This can create a fail over WAN interface in the event that the WAN 1 port loses connection to the internet. A secondary internet service provider is required to fully utilize the secondary WAN port.

To enable the secondary WAN port:

  1. Launch a web browser from a computer or mobile device that is connected to your router’s network.
  2. Enter https://www.routerlogin.net.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Your browser might display a security message, which you can ignore.
    A login window displays.
  3. Enter the router user name and password.
    The user name is admin. The password is the one that you specified the first time that you logged in. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
    The Dashboard page displays.
  4. Select WAN > Internet/WAN                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              The Internet/WAN page displays.
  5. Navigate to the WAN2 tab and toggle Convert LAN5 Port to WAN2.
  6. Scroll down to Connection Type and from the drop down, select the connection type provider.
  7. Select from one of the three available options. Please check with these settings with your Internet Service Provider:
    1. Static: Add the IP address and Dynamic DNS address that was provided by your Internet Service Provider.
    2. PPPoE: Add your username and password that was provided by your Internet Service Provider.
    3. DHCP: Dynamic will automatically assign an IP address that is provided by your Internet Service Provider. If you are unsure, you can leave the option as DHCP and let the internet service provider provide you an IP address.
  8. Under the Internet Service Provider Information field, add the Domain Name if it is required by your internet service provider.
  9. Under the Domain Name Servers (DNS) field. Leave the setting Get Automatically from ISP if you wish to use the DNS server provided by your internet service provider.
  10. Once finished, click Apply to save and enable the secondary WAN port.
  11. The secondary WAN port will now be enabled. 
The PRX460X utilises a Dual-WAN failover policy only. In the event that the primary WAN port loses internet connectivity, it will fail over to the secondary WAN port.
