NETGEAR regularly releases firmware updates to improve product performance, add features, and enhance security.
If you want to load a specific firmware version, follow these instructions.
To manually update the firmware on your PR460X router:
- Connect your computer to your router with an Ethernet cable.
- Visit NETGEAR Support.
- Enter your router’s Model Number or Product Name.
- Click Downloads.
- Select a firmware version and click Download.
- Unzip the file if needed.
- Enter https://www.routerlogin.net into a web browser. Your browser might display a security message, which you can ignore.
A login page displays.
- Enter the router admin user name and password.
The default user name is admin. The password is the one you specified the first time you logged in. The user name and password are case-sensitive.
- Select Administration > Firmware Update.
- Click Choose Browse, then locate and select the firmware file that ends in .bin.
- Click the Update button.
The firmware update starts and the router restarts. The firmware update process takes about two minutes.
After you start the firmware update, do not try to go online, turn off the router, or do anything else to the router until it finishes restarting.
To automatically update the firmware on your PR460X router:
- Enter https://www.routerlogin.net into a web browser. Your browser might display a security message, which you can ignore.

- After logging in on the Dashboard screen, click Check for Update.
- If a new update is available, click the Update button to perform the software update on the router.

Warning: To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the upgrade. For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. Do not turn off the router. Wait until the router finishes restarting and the Power LED turns solid green. |
