To install your NETGEAR router using the router web interface:
- Using an Ethernet cable, connect your modem to the yellow Internet port on the back of your NETGEAR router.
- Connect your computer to one of the Ethernet ports on your router.
- Insert the Power Cable into the router.

- Open a web browser and enter https://www.routerlogin.net.
You are prompted to log in. Your browser might display a security message, which you can ignore
- Note: If you experience any Internet connection issues, try power-cycling your network by removing the power cable and reinserting.
- Log in to the router.
The default user name is admin. The default password is password.
The user name and password are case-sensitive.
- You will be prompted with a Welcome Setup screen.
- Click Next to continue.
- You will be prompted with a Terms of Services screen. Click I agree to continue.
- The router detects your Internet connection.
If internet cannot be detected, please check your modems internet connectivity and try power-cycling your network by removing the power cable and reinserting.
- Click Next to continue.
- Enter and confirm a new admin password.
- Click Next to continue.
- Select the Time Zone the router is located in.
- Click Next to continue.
- The Firmware Update Assistant page displays.
- If a firmware update is not available, click Next.
Your router is set up.
- If a firmware update is available, click Yes to update your firmware. Warning: To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the upgrade. For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. Do not turn off the router. Wait until the router finishes restarting and the Power LED turns solid green.
The firmware updates.
The router reboots.
You are prompted to log in.
- Enter admin and the new password you created earlier.
The Dashboard page displays.
Your router is set up.
