NETGEAR routers and mesh WiFi systems, including Orbi Mesh WiFi Systems, Nighthawk Routers, and Nighthawk Mesh WiFi Systems, are compatible with any Internet service provider (ISP).
For example, NETGEAR routers and WiFi systems are compatible with the following service providers, as well as many others:
- Comcast (Xfinity)
- Cox
- AT&T
- Charter (Spectrum)
- Verizon (FiOS)
- Google Fiber
- Starlink
However, a router alone is usually not enough to connect you to the Internet. You must connect your NETGEAR router to one of the following devices, depending on what kind of Internet service you have:
- Cable Internet service: A cable modem or cable modem router (also known as a cable gateway)
- Fiber Internet service: An optical network terminal (ONT) or Fiber Jack, which is provided by your service provider. Some fiber services do not require this additional equipment, but most do.
- Satellite Internet service: A terminal device, usually provided by your service provider
Your modem, ONT, Fiber Jack, or terminal device must be compatible with your ISP.
NETGEAR offers cable modems and modem routers that are compatible with most major United States ISPs. For NETGEAR cable modem and modem router compatibility information, refer to one of the following resources:

If you connect a NETGEAR router to your existing cable modem router, we recommend that you turn off WiFi broadcasting from the modem router to avoid interference between the two different WiFi networks. You might also see this option listed in the modem router’s user interface as turning off WiFi radios.
