5G mmWave (millimeter wave) is a cellular technology that supports multi-gigabit Internet speeds at extremely low latency as compared to Sub-6Ghz. The technology is new but growing, with all major carriers in the United States and Japan offering a range of mmWave devices. The UK and nearly half of the countries in the European Union have allocated or plan to allocate millimeter-wave spectrum to 5G.
The advantages of 5G mmWave are more bandwidth and faster Internet speeds. 5G mmWave provides these advantages because it is a high-frequency band. But, like all high-frequency bands, 5G mmWave has a shorter range and less ability to penetrate walls compared to lower frequencies like 2.4Ghz.
Considering these advantages and disadvantages, 5G mmWave is ideal for use in places like sports stadiums, home offices, competitive gaming, and live streaming.
