NETGEAR is aware of an issue in the latest WAX600 series firmware (released December 10, 2022) that causes the following problems, depending on your access point’s management mode.
Symptoms if your access point is managed by Insight:
- Client devices cannot connect to your access point’s WiFi network.
Symptoms if your access point is in standalone mode:
- You are unable to create a new WiFi network or unable to edit an existing WiFi network.
- You might see the error message “Invalid character in the passphrase.”
Root cause:
This issue is caused by new or existing passwords that contain special characters other than the following: !@#$%^&*().
Affected firmware versions:
- WAX615 and WAX618: v10.3.1.5
- WAX630E and WAX638E: v10.3.1.7
- WAX625 and WAX628: v10.2.6.8
Workaround:
Make sure that all new and existing WiFi networks are using passwords that include only the permitted special characters: !@#$%^&*().
Resolution:
NETGEAR plans to release a fix for this issue as quickly as possible. We recommend that you update your access point to the new firmware, version 10.3.1.8, as soon as it is released.
