Bug Fixes:
- If the access point (AP) is powered by a PoE (802.3af) switch instead of a PoE+ (802.at) switch, no notification is displayed, and the radios are not powered down to operate with low power.
Known Issues:
- During the “Day Zero” initial setup of the AP, the “Print Credentials” and “Terms & Conditions” do not work on an Apple device that uses a system mini browser.
Workaround: Use a regular browser for the “Day Zero” initial setup.

The following sections also describe how you can update the firmware.
Manually Update Firmware after Initial Setup
- Download the latest WAX220 V1.0.x.yy firmware file from the NETGEAR support site (https://www.netgear.com/support/).
- Launch a web browser from a computer or tablet that is directly connected over WiFi.
- Enter the IP address that is assigned to the AP.
If you are directly connected to the management WiFi network, you can enter https://www.aplogin.net. Otherwise, enter https://<IP-address-of-AP>.
A login page displays.Note: If the IP address of the AP is its 192.168.0.100 default address, enter https://192.168.0.100
If the browser displays a security warning, you can proceed, or add an exception for the security warning. For more information, see https://kb.netgear.com/000062980. - Enter the AP login password and click the LOGIN button.
The AP login password is the one that you specified the first time you logged in to
the AP. The password is case-sensitive.The Dashboard page displays.
- Select Management- > System Manager -> Firmware.
- Locate and select the firmware file on your computer by doing the following:
In the Firmware Upgrade section, click the Choose File button.
Navigate to the firmware file. The file name ends in .img.
Select the firmware file. - Click the Upload button.A pop-up window displays.
- Click the Proceed button.
The page displays the update progress. The update takes about 3 minutes.WARNING: To avoid the risk of corrupting the firmware, do not interrupt the update.
For example, do not close the browser, click a link, or load a new page. Do not turn
off the AP. Wait until the AP finishes.When the update is finished, you can log back into the AP. After you log in, the
firmware version displays on the Dashboard page.
Let the AP Automatically Update the Firmware after Initial Setup
