If your wireless access point (AP) does not power on, try these troubleshooting tips.

If your AP uses a power adapter:

  • Verify that your power adapter is securely connected to the AP and to the power outlet.
  • Make sure that you are using the correct power adapter for your AP. The wrong power adapter might fit your AP's power connector, but it might not provide adequate power.
  • Try plugging your power adapter into another power outlet.
  • If you have a spare power adapter for your AP, try using your spare power adapter.

If your AP uses Power over Ethernet (PoE):

  • Make sure that your AP's Ethernet cable is connected to a PoE port on your power sourcing equipment (PSE).
  • Verify that your Ethernet cable is connected to the PoE port on your AP. For more information, see your AP's installation guide.
  • Make sure that your PSE provides adequate power for your AP. For more information about your AP's PoE requirements, see your AP's user manual.
