The NETGEAR WAX630 and WAX630E are tri-band multi-gig access points. The main difference between the two models is that the WAX630 supports the WiFi 6 standard while the WAX630E supports the newer WiFi 6E standard.
WiFi 6E extends the WiFi 6 standard by adding support for the 6 GHz wireless band. 6 GHz
support offers several benefits:
- Increased bandwidth: The 6 GHz band supports almost twice as many high-bandwidth channels as 5 GHz. More available high-bandwidth channels means more capacity for applications like 4K and 8K streaming, virtual reality gaming, and high-definition video conferencing.
- Reduced wireless interference: The 6 GHz band supports more WiFi channels than 5 GHz. More available WiFi channels means less overlap between networks in crowded areas like apartments complexes or offices.
- Improved security: WPA3 is mandatory for all WiFi 6 Certified devices operating in 6 GHz. WPA3 provides the latest in security and authentication protocols.

The WAX630 has two more 2.4 GHz antennas and one more 5 GHz radio than the WAX630E. The additional antennas and radio might mean better performance on the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands using the WAX630.
