A media access control (MAC) address is a series of letters and numbers that Ethernet devices use to identify the source device and the destination device. MAC addresses are assigned when a device is manufactured.
Example of a MAC address: 00:00:00:a1:2b:cc
Your NETGEAR device’s MAC address is typically listed on the device’s label and visible from the device’s web interface. If you use your own modem instead of the one supplied by your Internet service provider (ISP), your ISP might need you to provide your modem’s MAC address so that they can turn on your service.
