The 6 GHz wireless band was introduced with the WiFi 6E standard and is exclusive to devices that support WiFi 6E and newer standards, including WiFi 7 and successive future WiFi versions.
Because the 6 GHz wireless band was previously unlicensed, regulators in some regions are still considering its use. The 6 GHz band is not available in regions where regulators have not approved its use.
Because regional 6 GHz adoption is increasing and adoption status changes frequently, we recommend that you use the Wi-Fi Alliance's Countries Enabling Wi-Fi in 6 GHz page to see if 6 GHz WiFi is available in your region.
If your region approves the 6 GHz band, devices and functionality might not be available right away. After the 6 GHz band is approved, individual device manufacturers must add support to their devices before you can access the 6 GHz band. Even if your device includes capable hardware, its manufacturer might not enable 6 GHz band access for some time after the 6 GHz band is approved. If you are unsure of your device's 6 GHz support plans, contact your device's manufacturer.
